Josh Neilsen designs and builds modern, heirloom-quality furniture using traditional craftsmanship. He has a background and degree in graphic design and currently works as a Senior Production Artist at Mullen Lowe. His passion for working with his hands, though, led him into furniture design. Self-taught, Josh began working with solid domestic hardwoods to build functional pieces in remarkable forms. His focus on exposed joinery, shows the indisputable truth behind the strength and endurance of each piece. Using simple geometric forms and sculptural details, he creates tactile appeal that can only be achieved by slow and patient handmade work. Each unique piece is designed and built in his South Bay studio and finished with hand-rubbed natural oil and wax.
